Metabolic Health Coach Releases Video Debunking Genesis Vegetarianism Claims Through Hebrew Analysis

By Marc Bates

Metabolic Health Coach Marc Bates has released a comprehensive YouTube video examining widespread misconceptions about biblical dietary mandates, specifically addressing claims that Genesis originally required vegetarianism through detailed Hebrew linguistic analysis.

The video focuses on the critical mistranslation of the Hebrew word "kibosh" in Genesis 1:28, commonly rendered as "subdue" in English translations. Bates demonstrates that this sanitized translation fails to capture the word's actual meaning of subjugation, domination, and even violent control.

"The main Hebrew word that is mistranslated is the word kibosh, which in English is often translated as subdued," Bates explains in the video. "Kibosh really means to subjugate, violate, be subdued, be humiliated. It's often used in military context as well as in the acquiring of food."

The analysis extends beyond Genesis to examine kibosh usage throughout biblical texts. In Jeremiah 34:11, the word appears in contexts of forced slave subjugation, while Esther 7:8 uses kibosh to describe assault, demonstrating the term's aggressive connotations.

Bates challenges the logical inconsistency of vegetarian interpretations by questioning how humans could "subdue" fish and birds for agricultural purposes. The video presents evidence that Genesis 1:26-28 explicitly grants humans dominion over all living creatures for consumption purposes.

The scholarly examination addresses common resistance to Hebrew textual evidence. "They often deny the underlying Hebrew, because they're taught that the English translations are necessarily good," Bates notes, emphasizing that contextual analysis across multiple biblical passages provides definitive clarification.

The video is available on YouTube and invites scholarly discussion through viewer engagement and commentary.
