Metabolic Health Coach Marc Bates Releases YouTube Video Challenging Human Omnivore Classification

By Marc Bates

Marc Bates, a leading metabolic health coach, has released a controversial YouTube video presenting evolutionary evidence that humans evolved primarily as "fat hunters" rather than balanced omnivores. The announcement directly challenges conventional nutritional wisdom and current dietary guidelines.

The video presents compelling anatomical evidence showing human digestive systems differ fundamentally from true omnivores. Bates cites research from "Ketogenic: The Science of Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction" by Noakes, Ben-Dor, and Crofts, demonstrating that humans possess significantly smaller colons comprising only 20% of digestive volume compared to 50% in great apes.

"Human digestive biochemistry, our reduced ability to detoxify plant antinutrients, our need for preformed nutrients like vitamin B12 and heme iron, all pointed to a metabolic design built for nutrient-dense animal foods, not grains and legumes," Bates explains in the video.

Archaeological findings support this theory, revealing butchering tools predated plant-processing tools by over 1.5 million years. The video argues that agriculture emerged as a survival adaptation following megafauna extinction, not as evolutionary progress.

Bates contends that current dietary guidelines recommending 45-65% calories from carbohydrates fundamentally contradict human evolutionary design. He argues this mismatch contributes to widespread metabolic dysfunction, including obesity, diabetes, and chronic disease.

"The Standard American Diet demands digestive and detox capacity that evolution stripped from us 2 million years ago, while simultaneously starving the brain and mitochondria of the very fuel they evolved to thrive on," Bates states.
