Metabolic Health Expert Marc Bates Releases YouTube Video Challenging Modern Diet Assumptions

By Marc Bates

Marc Bates, MPH, has released a groundbreaking YouTube video that challenges conventional dietary wisdom by presenting evidence that ketosis represents humanity's natural metabolic state rather than a modern diet trend.

The comprehensive presentation explores human evolutionary history, arguing that for approximately 99% of human existence, our ancestors functioned as what Bates terms "facultative carnivores" rather than true omnivores.

"Early humans, especially during Paleolithic times, were eating a heavy fat diet. They were obviously fat apex predators," Bates explains in the video. "The human gut system, the way it's designed, leads to ketosis as being the primary fuel."

Bates presents anatomical evidence supporting his claims, focusing on the human digestive system's unique design. He notes that human stomachs are exceptionally small and highly acidic compared to plant-eating animals, optimized for breaking down proteins and fats rather than processing large volumes of plant material.

"Our stomach is more acidic than almost any other animal," Bates states. "When plant products hit the intestines, they tend to cause damage, which proves that it's just not what we're supposed to be eating."

The video systematically dismantles what Bates calls "the myth of normal eating," positioning modern carbohydrate-rich diets as a recent deviation from human biological norms that leads to metabolic dysfunction and chronic disease.

The presentation provides practical guidance for individuals seeking to align their dietary patterns with their evolutionary biology through fat-adapted nutrition strategies.
